Immigration

NSO's CENOMAR  and Advisory of Marraige

What is the difference between the two? Which one does the Canadian embassy wants?
I have heard and  read these  questions a lot of times  in an immigration forum I joined, I am glad I took the time to sit down and explain what I know.

CENOMAR  is the  abbreviation of Certificate  of  No Marriage.  We need to get this piece paper in NSO  National Statistics Office when  you are planning to  get married. CENOMAR is one major requirement  to secure a marriage license in the Philippines. This proves that you  are not currently married to anybody. This proves legally  that you are eligible to marry. Now, the question is, Does the Canadian  embassy needs that? If you are being sponsored  by your husband or your wife who is in Canada, you  don't need it because  common sense  will tell you, you don't need  it because  you are married.  The embassy needs CENOMAR  if you are being single sponsored by your family member like your parents   and the like.

Advisory of Marraige-  if you are  under spousal sponsorship which means your husband or wife is sponsoring you  this  is what you need to give the embassy. The way I understand  this document, it is like a background check in your marriage history. This is to make sure that you really are  married to  the person you claim you are married to. You have to go to NSO  and fill the paper with your maiden name  not your married name, usually it takes 3 days to a week  to get the result.

Learn from my mistake. When I downloaded the  list of requirements for spousal sponsorship, in the  list its written CENOMAR/Advisory of Marraige,  the  first thing I thought  was  oh  I dont  need CENOMAR  because  I  am married  now, I wondered what Advisory of Marraige  was but the  curiosity wasn't enough for me to find out  if I need to submit it.. It turned  out  after over a month since  we submit  our application I received a mail  from the embassy asking me  to submit  it. So I had to get it, I felt bad because I am pretty sure it added the delay.

I hope this is helpful. Feel free to comment  if you have questions.

Right to Permanent Residence Fee/ RPRF

As promise I am going to do my best to help you out there  who are sponsoring their spouses or being sponsored by their spouses to Canada. As they say "Experience is the best teacher" , I am not saying  I know everything about spousal  sponsorship but  you have to know  I have been there, done that. Me and my husband  get through the whole process  with  no help of  immigration lawyer or MP. We did it  ourselves and we made it  and I am sure  you too can.|

Anyone  who is in this situation knows  what RPRF is  or at least familiar with it or at least have heard it.. It is one of the fees we have to pay  to  the immigration to  get our spouses. With my case  my husband missed paying the RPRF then  while on the process  we receive a letter asking us to pay for it  and it also indicated there that our application will be delayed for a month and yes it was delayed for a month. So my  advice is  to pay everything including the  RPRF upon submitting your application.

Hope this helps

  2. I think you just go ahead and pay, but please let me know how long since you submitted the application. I remember, most of my batchmates in the forum they paid everything upon application and me and my husband thought that's not the way it works but then somebody in the forum gave me a link from the cic website that its best to pay everything that in include RPRF because failing to do so will delay for a month or two. I am sure its best you just go ahead and pay, dont wait for the letter that request you to pay it,

  3. Yes go ahead and pay because time is running. Two months delay is heart breaking. Most of my batch mates then were approved in just 3 months some 4 months.

  9. hello :) you have a very helpful guide over here. thank you for the informations and advices. Im gonna be straightforward and ask a question in regards to our application aswell.. we just received our AOR/PPR and one of the thing they are asking is a fully completed appendix A. (which is attached to the letter) my question is it says it should be filled up by my wife's family member whether accompanying her to Canada or not. upon reading Appendix A. it said "please complete the following information for you and ALL OF YOUR DEPENDANTS, whether accompanying you to Canada or not. My question is who really needs to fill it up? as it said on the collumns (spouse/common law partner/child1/child2/--and so forth) is it her family member who she is living with or just her information and mine as we dont have a child nor she has any dependants on her. thank you. its just this requirements are a bit tricky for us that is not really used to documents like this. thanks again and God bless you.

  10. Your wife's family member is just you since you don't have kids. I would say just fill it up with you and your wife's info.

But you know that there is another document where your wife need to fill up all of her brothers or sisters or parents names and birthdays that's another separate document.

  11. thanks for the reply...
and yes its when we applied initially its the "additional family information"

what they send us now (attached to the AOR/PPR letter) is what they labeled as APPENDIX A document. so confusing really.. :P

so i dont need to do the "additional family information" again right?

    ReplyDelete
  12. yes you don't have to do the additional family information again.

I am positive it just you and your wife's information.

It's thrilling too you know coz when we applied to me and my husband are newly married I got confuse a little bit too but then I realized that once married your immediate family becomes your spouse and your kids if any. I believe you experience the same feeling I had- "confusion of new couple".

  14. Hello

I live in UAE-Abu Dhabi , i need to pay for Right of Permanent Residence Fee, do you know how can i do this from here, if it helps, my son is a student in Ottawa , he has an account in Scotia Bank , can he pay the fees ?

    ReplyDelete
  15. Yes your son can certainly pay it , for your convenience, usually you will receive a letter asking you to pay the RPRF and they will give you steps on how to pay it. There a couple of ways I think. Did you receive a letter?

    1. Thanx Nel for the reply, yes i received a letter explaining methods of paying and referring to this link

      http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/poland-pologne/visas/processing_fees-frais_traitement.aspx?lang=eng&view=d

i cant use the first method because PDFs are in Polish language, and i went to the post office here asking to send money via post office but they told me that they dont do this in UAE

so i have the second choice only which is money order .

  17. Hi Nel :)

I am a Filipina and recently got married to a wonderful Canadian man. We are so clueless as to how start our spousal visa application - Does my passport, NBI & Police clearance need to be in my married name?

I have renewed my passport and got my NBI & Plocie clearance however they are all in my maiden name. I couldn't use my married name or change my status yet because our NSO authenticated marriage contract isn't available yet (and I was told it wont be available until after 6 months!) ~ the long wait is pure torture -- I and my husband would really like to be together soonest time possible.

So here are my questions (sorryy, I am really very confused)

    1. Can I just use the Advisory of Marriage so I can change my status to Married?

    2. Where do I get the Advisory of Marriage? Do I get that at NSO? Do they have a form for that? Because when I went to NSO they only had forms for requests made for Cenomar, Marriage certificate, birth and death certificate. Is there a different form for requesting Advisory of Marriage?

    3. Do I need to have my passport, NBI and police clearance in my married name?

Also... it would really be helpful if yu can share some tips and advise -- really so confused...

Thank you so much, Nel and hope to hear from you soon! :)

    God bless :)

    -Janice

    1. Hey jancice, I was married on the 16th of December 2013 to a wonderful Filipina. We got our NSO certified marriage certificate a week later. You just got to have the right connections, if you know what I mean. Our spousal sponsorship was applied on the 5th of march, received by CPC Mississauga on the 8th, with all the fees paid for. Hope my reply helps. You can send me an email at kjocson18@hotmail.ca if you have any questions. Ciao

    2. Just to answer question number 2 and 3. Yes you can get that from NSO and yes it has to be your married name. As far as I know, you can't use your advisory on marriage to change your last name, sorry. Again, email me at kjocson18@hotmail.ca I'll gladly answer any questions you have. :)
